The e-Vignette for Hungary

With the Hungarian vignette the toll is checked electronically via the license plate.

We recommend purchasing the e-vignette online in advance of your journey to avoid difficulties. However, anyone who unintentionally drives onto a toll route without a vignette has a maximum of 60 minutes after the driveway to purchase a vignette. No additional fees are due during this hour.

How to register the car’s license plate:
You buy the e-Vignette by providing your car’s registration number and paying directly online. You will thus not have to have a physical motorway sticker in the car’s windscreen anymore, as it is the car’s number plate that is used for inspection.

The price and terms of the e-Vignette are the same as for the physical sticker. You can choose between three periods which are:

• 1 months
• Annual

The Motorway e-Vignette is mandatory when driving on Hungarian motorways.

When purchasing the e-vignette, you will receive a control slip for signature or a confirmation message when purchasing online. The receipt must be checked and confirmed for the correctness of all the data, in particular the license plate number, the period of validity and the vehicle class. In addition, it must be kept for two years as evidence in the event of any subsequent complaints.
